A Pink English Home That’s Brimming with History
This isn’t your traditional historic home where the interiors have been modernized so much that the walls are smooth and the rooms are perfectly designed. This is a historic home with wonky walls, low ceilings, and exposed wooden beams. And boy, it’s charming.
The 17th century home is located in a small town called Hadleigh in the English county Suffolk. The historic house has been lovingly restored with much care and attention for the original architecture.
The 2,700 square feet house is designed with considered palette of honest colors, textures, and materials. The low wooden ceilings, exposed wooden beams, wooden floors, and exposed brick walls show the history of this amazing and unique family home.
The exterior of the house is painted in a terracotta pink shade. Traditionally, houses in Suffolk are painted in “Suffolk Pink” and this is a warm and more modern take on the traditional house exterior color.

In the combined sitting room and dining room the wooden beams on the ceiling have been painted white to create a more spacious feeling as the ceiling is pretty low. To divide the sitting room from the dining area, the beams between these areas have retained their natural color.
The inglenook firpelace has been restored and has a working open fire to create a cozy traditional atmosphere in the room.
You enter the living room though a beautiful raw wooden arched doorway.
The dining room has new tongue and groove paneling that is painted in a muted color tone.
A modern touch in this home is the kitchen which is made of stainless steel cabinets. This is combined with a green marble worktop and backsplash.
The walls are painted in a soft terracotta pink shade which looks great in combination with the historic elements and the green marble.
The hallway has a red brick floor and exposed wooden beams.
On the first floor are five bedrooms that each have their own color scheme using Dulux colors. The master bedroom is painted in a bright white that is combined with an antique bedframe.
The kids bedrom is painted in “Dark Stone” by Dulux.
The walls in this bedroom are pianted in “Ravens Flight” by Dulux. The moody dark gray hue is combined with earthy bedding.
The garden is surrounded by a red brick wall which creates a private outdoor space.
