Georgian Grandeur and a Soft deVOL Shaker Kitchen in a Bath Townhouse
In a Georgian townhouse in Bath, interior consultant Poppie Clements and deVOL Kitchens teamed up to create a beautiful kitchen with Shaker-style cabinetry, grand Georgian proportions, and period features.
Three Shaker cupboards, an island, and two shelves are all this kitchen needs to feel beautifully composed. Each element has a purpose, creating a room that is practical, refined, and wonderfully calm.

The color palette is the first thing to catch the eye. Bespoke deVOL paint colors lend the space a warmth that recalls the soft flow of golden hour, especially paired with the sheer café curtains that filter the daylight through generous Georgian windows and the sunbeams on the pale pitch pine floorboards.

A large kitchen island with a dramatic Calacatta Viola worktop takes center stage, becoming the natural gathering point, while also providing practical prep space and storage with cabinets on either side.

Original architectural details, such as window shutters, cornicing, a ceiling rose, and the fireplace, have been carefully and sympathetically restored, preserving the unmistakable character of the Georgian house.

Two wooden shelves, painted in the same soft hue as the walls, are fitted above the Everhot Cooker. The kitchen design is simple yet effective. The lack of upper cabinets also accentuates the magnificent high ceilings.

The walls and ceiling are painted in “Cloth” by Atelier Ellis.

The beautiful marble fireplace is flanked by two built-in cabinets with arched doors.

The stunning ceiling rose adds ornate grandeur to the ceiling and is paired with an antique pendant from Mayfly Vintage.

The kitchen’s strength lies in the balance between all elements: the room’s grandeur and the simplicity of its floorboards, the richly patterned marble and the modest open shelves. Together, they create a kitchen that feels quietly elegant, comfortable and ready for everyday life.
