A Small Apartment with a Bright Open-Plan Kitchen & Bedroom
In old Swedish apartments, you often see that the bedroom is located next to the kitchen. Usually, these bedrooms are tiny and can just accommodate a double bed. In this small apartment, the owners opened this space, removing the door and adding a glass wall to create a more spacious feeling in the tiny bedroom.
The apartment is decorated in a fresh and bright palette of white and light gray, which helps to make the 36-square-meter home feel more spacious. It also features many preserved original details, such as pantry and serving cupboards, beautiful moldings, and ceiling rosettes, creating a charming little home.
My favorite room in the house is the kitchen/bedroom space. There’s a large window in the bedroom, and thanks to the slatted window, the kitchen also gets natural light. The white floorboards and walls enhance this bright feeling.
The charming kitchen has been designed in a style that suits the house’s twenties architecture. The breakfast bar in front of the window adds extra prepping space, and it is a lovely spot for a morning cup of coffee.
The bedroom space has been divided by a large slatted window section that allows light to flow freely through the apartment, while the curtain makes it possible to create a more private space.
It’s just big enough for a small double bed. The terracotta colored being adds a warm tone paired with the gray and white hues.
The kitchen also features William Morris Pimpernel wallpaper for a nice natural color accent.
The living room is a calm space with walls painted in a light gray hue, and the floorboards painted white.
Despite it being a city apartment, from the window, you have a lovely view of the trees outside.
