A Small Apartment with High Ceilings and a Large Bay Window
On the fifth floor of a 1910s apartment building in Stockholm lies this charming one-bedroom apartment offering period features, high ceilings, a large bay window, and a renovated kitchen.
The 40 square meter apartment has an open floor plan between the hall, kitchen, and living room, and the generous ceiling height, large bay window, and white walls create an airy atmosphere, making the home feel larger then its actual size.
From the hall, you walk into the living room, where you’re struck by the high ceiling and the large bay window with windows in three directions, offering amazing views thanks to the apartment’s high location.
A cozy sitting area has been created by the original decorative tile fireplace. A large blue rug defines the sitting area, and a large mirror helps to distribute light into the open-plan living space.
The period features like the fireplace, high skirting boards, and mirrored doors create a cozy setting. The wooden floorboards add a warm touch to the white space.
The large bay window is the perfect spot for a large dining table. The windows off panoramic views of the city of Stockholm.
From the living room, glass-framed double mirror doors lead into the apartment’s cozy bedroom.
The bedroom is tiny, but it feels airy thanks to the high ceiling, glass doors, and large window. The deep window sill can be used as a nightstand.
The walls in the bedroom are decorated with Boråstapeter’s ‘Nocturne’ wallpaper.
The wide open doorways create a nice open layout in the apartment, making it feel larger than 40 square meters. But it is designed in such a manner that each room feels like its own, and the kitchen is situated in a cozy nook.
The kitchen was renovated a couple of years ago, pairing green cabinets with gilded knobs and a limestone worktop and backsplash.
The tiny bathroom was renovated last year, pairing classic white tiles with a natural stone-like floor tile. The design is kept simple, with a shower cubicle and a light gray vanity with a gray sink.
The hall is spacious and offers plenty of storage in the form of a large wardrobe with sliding mirror doors. A bench with a hat shelf offers even more storage space.
