A Small Light Filled Apartment with Plants and Color
Small-space living isn’t hard if you know how to use the space well and decorate the rooms with color, plants, and stylish furniture. This 42-square-meter apartment in Stockholm shows how a small home can be fun, bright, and stylish.
The apartment was built in the 1930s, and the home still features original elements like the preserved floorplan, kitchen cabinets, and the glass wall with a door between the kitchen and the small bedroom.
Large west-facing windows flood the rooms in the apartment with natural light. The living room is a charming space with white walls and a parquet floor paired with plants, colorful details, and an open cabinet.
The room is small, so the owners opted for a neutral base with white walls and a wooden floor paired with wooden and light-colored furnishings. This calm base is spruced up with colorful elements in art and textiles as well as plants that add a lively tone to the space.
The living room opens up to a small, sunny balcony with rattan seating and plants.
The bedroom is small but very light, thanks to the corner window. The walls are painted in a dusty pink shade, paired with an ochre yellow throw and door leading to the living room.
The original glass wall with a sliding door separates the kitchen from the bedroom. The kitchen is small with on one side original cabinets that are paired with modern white cupboards and open shelves.
The floor plan is open between the living room and hallway to make the room feel larger. The hall is divided into two areas with here wardrobes that are hidden by a green velvet curtain.
The hallway sets the tone for the rest of the apartment as it is painted in the same yellow color as the door between the living room and bedroom. A clever small storage system offers room for coats, shoes, and other items.
