A Social Living Space and an Exposed Brick Wall in a Stockholm Apartment
On the third floor of a turn-of-the-century apartment building in the Södermalm area in Stockholm lies this beautiful apartment, where historical elements are paired with a more modern, open-plan layout.
The apartment has a floor size of 61 square meters, but a thoughtful layout, high ceilings, built-in storage, and large windows make this home feel more spacious and airy than its size would suggest.

The heart of the home in this beautiful, open-plan living room and kitchen. Judging from the pattern of the original wooden floorboards, this used to be two smaller rooms, but by opening it up, there is more space and more light in the living space.

One half of the room is now a charming seating area with a large dark gray corner sofa and a large rug in pink and gray hues that adds some color to the neutral-toned space.

The green Ande Side Table and the plants add more color to the space.

There is no wall between the living room and the hall, creating a more open and flowing layout.

The exposed brick wall in the hall adds a characteristic statement feature to the living space.

The kitchen is my favorite part of the home. It’s part of the living room without being too prominent, and the design turns it more into a luxury furniture piece than simply a functional space for cooking.

The light gray cabinet doors are paired with brass fittings, a Carrara marble countertop, and square white backsplash tiles that run toward the ceiling.

The kitchen is small, but by only adding upper cabinets on one side, it doesn’t feel cluttered. And the high ceiling on the left side doesn’t get blocked this way. It would add some shelves on the left side for more storage.

The fridge is tucked neatly into a small niche with storage shelves on top.

Original mirror doors connect the living space with the bedroom. The bedroom can also be accessed via the hall.

The light palette continues in this room. The room is wonderfully light thank to the large window, and the wooden floorboards add a natural and calming element to the space.

Wardrobes with dark gray doors have been fitted into the room.

From the hall leading to the bedroom, you can also access the bathroom and two built-in wardrobes.

The entry hall is fitted with built-in wardrobes directly to the right of the front door. The original wooden floorboards start here and continue throughout the space. The pattern on the floor and the former fireplace slabs showcase the apartment’s 100-year-old history.
The apartment was listed for sale at Fantastic Frank Stockholm.
