A Swedish Apartment with a Restored Original Kitchen

There are two types of homes on real estate websites: homes that are obviously styled, and while they’re beautiful, they don’t always feel lived in, and then there are homes where you feel that the owner just stepped out so that some pictures could be taken. And today, I want to share a home in the second category.

This apartment is only 44 square meters, but it has a nice layout with an open-plan living room and kitchen, which makes it feel larger. The apartment has been carefully restored, and particular care has been taken to modernize the original kitchen without losing the historic charm.

The living room is a cozy space with a midcentury vibe. The walls are painted in a light gray shade and on the floor lies an oak parquet with a Dutch joint.

The original kitchen was carefully restored and modernized by Ã…hlund’s Building Services. The white cabinets are paired with the original mahogany worktops and specially made hand-fired tiles, inspired by Finnish designer an architect Alvar Aalto, that are used as the splashback.
