A Victorian House where the Kitchen is the Heart of the Home

On a prime location in Queen’s Park stands a gorgeous historic house with a large kitchen that serves as the heart of the home. The Victorian house was recently renovated and extended by its current owners into a grand London family home.

During the renovations, the owners managed to add new additions while also maintaining the home’s historical features like the high ceilings, ornate fireplaces, cornices, and wooden floorboards.

My favorite room in the house is the light-filled kitchen, which is housed in the extension. With skylights and large crittal windows overlooking the garden, the kitchen/living space is flooded with natural light and thanks to the glass doors that can be opened you have a great connection with the garden.

As it’s my favorite room, I’m starting the home tour in the open-plan kitchen, dining room, and lounge. The large kitchen is designed in several muted colors paired with a marble backsplash.

Under the slanted ceiling, they have added a built-in bench with terracotta cushions that offer plenty of seating space.

The extended kitchen is perfect for families, the space can be used for cooking and dining but children can do their homework here or lounge in front of the television while the parents are cooking.

The extension has been transformed into a beautiful lounge area. Three skylights in the ceiling and crittal doors leading to the garden transform this space into a bright room connected to the outdoors.

The Victorian part of the house is home to a classic double living room with large bay windows flooding the room with light. The original floor, laid in a herringbone pattern, ceiling ornaments, and the black fireplace add charm to the space.

The back part of the living room is now a cozy television room with deep green walls and a comfy red sofa.
