In a picturesque village close to Amsterdam stands this renovated family home with wooden interiors and a large garden. The charming house is a monumental listed mansion from the 17th century that was renovated in 2017.
During the renovation, the owners retained the authentic, historic features while also modernizing it for present day family life. This historic atmosphere matches the outside, as the house is located on a narrow car-free street with views of the church in the historic Dutch village.
The interiors of the 193m2 square meter house are designed in collaboration with Brecht Murré from Brecht Murré Atelier. The house features two sitting rooms, a large family kitchen, and four bedrooms.
At the front of the house lies a warm living room with French doors that lead to the garden. One wall has been fitted with a custom made wooden storage system that adds plenty of storage space and a desk area in front of the window.
In this room, and in most rooms of the house, you see the history with the exposed wooden ceilings.
From the hall, you enter the grand kitchen space that was completely renovated and extended in 2017. In the kitchen and the hallway lie large marble floor tiles.
The dining area in the kitchen is located in the glass extension that makes the garden an extension of the kitchen.
From the kitchen, you can go up the stairs to the second sitting room.
In the center of the house you will find the hallway with high ceilings, dark gray walls, and marble floor tiles.
Via the open wooden staircase in the hall you reach the first floor with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a second toilet. The wooden floor is made of old roof parts.
The master bedroom is a cozy space with a slanted wooden ceiling, light pink walls, and an en-suite bathroom.
Both children’s rooms have custom built-in beds and warm wooden floors.
The architecturally landscaped garden has several terraces, beautiful flower beds, a vegetable garden and various special trees.
