An Industrial Glass Wall Turns a Studio into a One-Bedroom Apartment
New owners come and go in this apartment. This is the third time the home has been put on the market in four years, and this time, the owners turned the studio into a one-bedroom apartment.
The 34-square-meter apartment is located on the first floor of an early 20th-century apartment building in Gothenburg. The small home is defined by its high-quality materials and period features such as high ceilings, stucco, and large arched windows.

The entire apartment is painted a soft blue-gray and paired with the beautiful herringbone parquet floor, creating a harmonious, calm atmosphere.

The kitchen base is made of IKEA furniture, paired with light gray doors from a local carpentry workshop, black knobs, a limestone countertop from Thorsberg Stenhuggeri, and porcelain sockets from Fontini.

Beautiful stucco and moldings make this more than your average small apartment.

Closed cabinets and open shelving with wineglass storage provide enough storage in the small kitchen.

A round, black dining table is placed in the center of the room, connecting the kitchen with the seating area.

On the other side of the kitchen, a small seating area features the Vigmar sleeping sofa from Ilva, while the deep window niche holds decorations, including the Crème Atelier Soft Serve table lamp.

The industrial glass doors are a new addition to the apartment, turning a studio into a one-bedroom home.

In the corner, built-in wardrobes are painted in the same gray-blue shade as the walls, letting them blend in beautifully.

The wardrobe handles are a beautiful detail that suits the apartment’s turn-of-the-century building period beautifully.

The new owners utilized the high ceilings (3.3 meters) by adding a loft in the sleeping niche, adding another bed for guests. The ladder leading to the loft is hanging on the side of the wardrobes.

The glazed doors let natural light flow into the bedroom while keeping the apartment feeling as airy as possible, despite adding a closed-off bedroom. The bedroom even has space for a home office if you don’t add a wide bed.

Integrated spots have been added to the loft ceiling, adding a cozy ambiance to the bedroom.

The loft area has a carpeted base and space for a double bed.

The bathroom is stylish and practical with a combination of white and gray tiles and a black-painted ceiling.

Brass fittings add a luxurious touch to the bedroom.

A small niche has been fitted with a glass-fronted cabinet.

The apartment is small, so it’s a smart decision to add a semi-open hall instead of an entirely closed hall space.
