A 17th-Century Canal Home in The Netherlands
Think of Dutch homes and a canal home will probably pop up in your head. I love how the historic city centres in The Netherlands have preserved these canals and beautiful architectural houses.
This home in Delft, dates back to the 17th-century (a time where many of these homes were built by rich merchants). The home is narrow but with clever design and open ceiling spaces to bring in more natural light it actually feels bright and spacious.
I love the combination of modern design with the historic details of this canal home. While in the living spaces they used muted earth-tones to bring some color in the home, in the bedroom spaces they chose a brighter (trend) color with mustard yellow (you might remember my post about this lovely color). I absolutely love these old homes, there’s so much character don’t you think?
