A Colorful London Home Filled with Re-Used Materials

The home I’ll show you today fits perfectly with yesterday’s post about warm colors. And not only that, it’s also a great example of sustainable design.

The Victorian home in Notting Hill belongs to Martha Whelan and her family. One thing she absolutely didn’t want was a home that would look too new and too slick. So she hired Retrouvius, a London design and salvage company that are driven by the belief that good materials and well-made things are precious.

The result is a home that’s filled with recycled materials. The kitchen is made of iroko wood from old school furniture, the metal door in the bathroom comes from the London School of Economics and curtains that come from the historic fabric collection of Maria Speake. It’s a wonderful warm and unique home that has truly made me fall in love with it.
