A Design Apartment in an Early 20th Century Building
This fantastic two-bedroom apartment, created by designer Andreas Samuelsson in an early 20th-century apartment building in Gothenburg, has a unique design with custom-designed furniture that has become a big favorite in the design world.
Norwegian interior magazine Nytt Rom featured a lengthy article on the apartment, and this year, the apartment was documented by the design festival 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen in connection with Andreas Samuelsson being selected as designer of the year.

The living room is a charming space with light-colored walls, a wooden floor, and custom furniture pieces. A large window floods the room with natural light, enhanced by the large mirror behind the ochre sofa.

While the apartment is mainly decorated in neutral shades, there are fun pops of color in almost every room. The living room features this orange Varier Ekstrem chair.

Seller Andreas Samuelsson collaborated with architect Per Nadén to create a shelving system crafted from solid spruce.
Precision laser-cut, the system features movable shelves designed to seamlessly integrate into walls from floor to ceiling. It also boasts two tempered glass panels and a built-in, removable TV bench.

The apartment is split level, the side with the living room and kitchen is situated slightly lower than the bedrooms.

From the living room, there is an open hallway into the kitchen. Andreas Samuelsson has designed the unique kitchen in collaboration with architect Per Nadén to create as much space into the room.

The site-built kitchen is made of solid spruce, paring open cabinets with closed drawers. Electricity outlets are built into the countertop.

The apartment has two bedrooms. The smaller bedroom has a sliding door made of spruce wood paired with cotton to let light through into the hall.

The second bedroom features a custom wooden wardrobe with a bench.

The bathroom has been completely renovated as a color and material project by seller Andreas Samuelsson. The design aimed to create harmony by uniting diverse materials, light, and color in the simplest way possible.
An exclusive mirror wall is recessed along the entire front of the sink, creating an optical illusion that doubles the room’s perceived size. Recessed opal glass dimmers by Jasper Morrison for Flos are integrated into the mirror wall, while an exclusive glass lamp by Arne Jacobsen is featured on the opposite wall.

The entire space is finished in premium granite ceramic, with a specially developed joint in the same shade to seamlessly match the tiles. The sink features an orange faucet designed by Arne Jacobsen for Vola.
The apartment is listed for sale at Stadshem – photography by Maria Sahlander.
