A Monochrome Design Home in a Former Chocolate Factory
It’s every kid’s dream: living in a chocolate factory. This modern apartment in Stockholm is located in the corner position of an early 20th-century chocolate factory, and it is a magnificent home where old factory elements are paired with modern interiors.
The two-bedroom apartment has been thoughtfully renovated, beautifully blending old factory elements with contemporary additions. The large hand-blown windows and concrete floors date from the time the factory was built. The contemporary kitchen, bathroom, and decor pair with it beautifully.
Huge industrial windows flood the open-plan living space with natural light. The owners added a monochrome color palette to the interiors which suit the industrial heritage extremely well.
The doors leading to the two bedrooms are extra high and wide, creating a wonderful feeling when opened. And by keeping the doors open, light also flows into the living space through the large bedroom windows.
The living space has a niche area that has been turned into a creative home office with an artist’s desk and wooden bookcases.
Opposite the sitting area lies a spacious kitchen. The kitchen is made of basic IKEA cabinets paired with exclusive smoked oak doors from Reform Cph designed by Norm Arkitekter, brass handles, and black fittings.
A large white Saarinen dining table surrounded by Saarinen’s tulip armchairs contrasts nicely with the darker tones used in the home.
The master bedroom is painted in a deep gray shade. The headboard is built into the wall to create a ledge that serves as a nightstand. Behind the wall are walk-in closets.
The second bedroom is painted in a dark blue shade paired with a white fluffy rug. With windows on two sides, the room has a wonderful view of the surrounding buildings.
The bathroom was renovated two years ago in a modern industrial style. It has a concrete sink from Betongdesign, a shower from Tapwell, and a shower door from Toniton.
The separate toilet is designed in a similar style with a small niche fitted with wooden shelves and terrazzo floor tiles.
The hall is fitted with built-in wardrobes with custom-made doors.
The apartment is listed for sale at Tradition.
