A Renovated Victorian House with Oak Features
A beautiful villa-style Victorian house in the London area of East Dulwich has been restored by designers Hamish Vincent and architects Benjamin Hale using warm materials. The rich material palette with bespoke joinery combined with carefully reinstated period features result in stylish and unique interior spaces.
The Victorian villa stands on a triangular-shaped plot, and the house also has a triangular shape, which results in many custom-made furniture pieces that fit the awkward rooms of the house.
The house is decorated in a calm color palette of beige and gray tones, which are complemented by many oak elements and the occasional green or brown color accents that enhance the natural look of the house’s interiors.
From the hallway, you enter the double living spaces that are divided by ivory-colored Crittall doors.
Your eye immediately draws upward toward the beautiful cornicing that borders the room.
The living and dining rooms feature an Italian, Arabescato Corchia marble fireplace.
The triangular-shaped kitchen island follows the natural line of the kitchen space. The limewashed walls and ceiling create a calm, natural base for the kitchen.
The kitchen is a wonderful calm space with oak cabinets and a sage green island paired with gray terrazzo tiles.
The house has five stylish bedrooms, including this beige room with built-in wardrobes and a wooden canopy bed. The three arched windows flood the room with natural light.
One of the smaller bedrooms is painted in a warm terracotta brown shade.
The largest bedroom is located on the top floor and features unique shaker-style oak paneling. The awkward space under the slanted ceiling turned out to be the perfect spot for a freestanding bath.
The garden echoes the style of the interiors, with a paved area at the front with grey brick in a basketweave formation, and with neat decking at the rear.
