A Small Stockholm Apartment with a Blue Shaker Kitchen
In a nice area in the trendiest part of Södermalm in Stockholm lies this charming one-bedroom apartment. The owner, architect Hanna Söderman, recently renovated the home, adding luxurious materials and a new blue kitchen that pairs wonderfully with the original woodwork.
The 40 square meter apartment pairs original elements like wooden floorboards, high skirting boards, mirror doors, and windows with a contemporary interior style and a classic kitchen painted in a fresh blue shade.
The apartment has an open-plan living space with woodwork painted in a lovely blue shade, matching the color of the kitchen cabinets.
Light flows into the room thanks to a large, original window with a pretty cloverleaf panel radiator protection underneath.
The period features like the woodwork, ceiling rosette, and floors are paired with a contemporary color palette. The walls are painted in Jotun Lady minerals lime paint, the woodwork is blue, and the decor features bright and fresh colors.
On the other side of the room, connected to the kitchen, stands a round dining table, and a beautiful wooden shelving system hangs on the wall.
The custom-built kitchen is designed in a contemporary Shaker style that pairs beautifully with the original elements of the apartment. The kitchen cabinets are hand-painted in the same color as the other woodwork in the apartment and paired with polished brass fittings.
The cabinets are topped with a Calcatta Cielo countertop and backsplash.
The fridge and freezer are integrated into the wall, and there is a small niche for cookbooks and a wine fridge.
From the living room, you move into the small bedroom with built-in storage with built-in lighting around a 160cm bed.
The wall and wardrobes are painted in a warm beige shade, creating a soft and calm sleeping area.
The small apartment has a spacious and luxurious bathroom where the floor and walls in the shower are tiled with Girgio Toscana marble.
Above the sink, a large built-in cabinet with mirror doors is fitted into the wall.
The bathroom is fitted with floor-to-ceiling cabinets in veneer ash, hiding the washing machine and offering plenty of storage space.
The hallway is classic and beautiful, with built-in cabinets, a bench, and a hat shelf offering plenty of storage space. The cabinets are designed in the same style as the original woodwork and the kitchen, creating a harmonious look. On the floor lies a beautiful checkerboard marble floor.
