Adrian Grenier’s Renovated Brooklyn Brownstone
Actor Adrian Grenier did the most wonderful thing for his mother. Even though they both lived in New York City the communte took a long time so he made a deal with his mother. If he could make her a nice home, she would move and live closer to him. And designing a nice house he certainly did! Adrian began a 4 year renovation project by completely rebuilding a 160-year-old Brooklyn brownstone.
Architecture firm Archetype divided the Brooklyn brownstone into three units, 2 duplex apartments and 1 garden apartment with a shared media room. Interior designer Estelle Bailey-Babenzien of The Dream Awake helped blending Adrien’s modern design with his mother Karesse’s classic style.
Sustainability was an important factor for both mother and son, the brownstone has recycled denin insulation, zero-VOC paint by Sherwin-Williams and a solar thermal system on the roof that warms the tap water and underfloor heating. The home ended up absolutely beautiful, with a perfect blend of clean modern lines with classical elements. Karesse is lucky to have a son that will built her such a wonderful home.
