A Cozy, Tiny Apartment with a Golden Yellow Bedroom
This cozy, tiny apartment lies on the second floor of a turn-of-the-century building in the popular Södermalm area of Stockholm. The apartment has a floor plan of only 36 square meters, but built-in storage space and high ceilings make it feel larger.
The owners have carefully renovated the small home in the last four years. A new kitchen in period style and a new bathroom were added, pairing beautifully with the original wooden floorboards from the beginning of the 20th century.

The apartment consists of two rooms in a row. The largest room is used as a combined kitchen, dining room, and living room.
The current owners added a built-in bench in front of the window, which is used for watching television, as well as providing plenty of seating space around the vintage wooden folding table.
The small niche by the window has been fitted with built-in shelves that reach the ceiling.
On the other side, simple IKEA Ivar cabinets have been painted the same light beige color as the walls (“Kokos” by Jotun) while the top has been left plain wood. A small gallery wall, including a television, hangs above the cabinets.
While the room is open-plan, the nooks and slanted walls create cozy and separate areas for cooking and living.
The wall against the central staircase is rounded, and the owners decided to keep the brick exposed, adding a nice raw and historical design element to the living area.
The current owners renovated the kitchen, adding new doors and tiles and changing the layout of the sink and storage.
The kitchen has turn-of-the-century-style cabinets paired with an oiled oak countertop, a white porcelain sink, and 15×15 white tiles with black grout.
A beautiful wooden mirror door gives access to the apartment’s bedroom.
The bedroom is warm, spacious, and bright thanks to two large windows. The walls are painted in a warm, golden yellow shade called “Antique Yellow” by Jotun.
I love the antique cabinet with glass doors and curtains by the window.
One wall has been fitted with recently-installed built-in wardrobes that reach the three-meter-high ceilings. It offers plenty of storage space in the small apartment.
The small bathroom was renovated last year. The walls are covered with white tiles, and the floor is covered with sandstone tiles.
Linseed oil-painted green double doors welcome you into the apartment. The same green color (Degebergagrön) is also used for the bathroom door.
A smart hat rack provides storage space for coats and bags when you step into the apartment.
