A Gray Stockholm Apartment with a Black Kitchen
When you walk into the courtyard of this apartment complex, with its beautiful lampposts, wrought iron fences, and trees, you feel that you are in Paris, but that’s not the case; this apartment is located in Stockholm.
In 2018, with the help of an architect, this apartment was renovated to enhance its charm while meticulously preserving original details such as plank floors, ceiling ornaments, and joinery. The result is stunning. The gray walls accentuate the ceiling ornaments, smart storage solutions were added, and a sleek black kitchen and industrial-style bathroom add a cool vibe to the home.
The floor plan is only 55 square meters, and it has interesting angles in some rooms, but the owners managed to create cozy and functional spaces.
The living room is a charming space with angled walls and built-in cabinets in two corners that utilize the awkward nooks. The walls are painted in the soothing Farrow and Ball shade ‘Ammonite’.
The kitchen is a space for socializing as it can house a generous dining table. The kitchen interior is built at an angle and has custom-built doors and splash guards in black Valchromat. This is paired with a stunning black Nero Marquina marble worktop.
The walls in the kitchen are painted in Farrow and Ball’s ‘Purbeck Stone’, which makes the ceiling ornaments really stand out.
The bedroom is located in the tower room, and its arched walls give the room an exclusive feel. The walls are painted in the same gray shade as the kitchen (Purbeck Stone by Farrow & Ball).
Built-in wardrobes have been fitted along one wall, and the cabinets even utilize the space above the door.
The view of the courtyard is magnificent.
The apartment has a small industrial-style bathroom with white tiles from Höganäs, a concrete floor, and terrazzo stone details.
The hallway is located against the central staircase, which is why it has a curved wall. The walls are painted in ‘Mole’s Breath’ by Farrow & Ball.
