Light and Dark Tones in a Stunning Apartment
I have seen so many homes in the years I have been blogging, and I still find new homes with the absolute wow factor. Today, I want to show you this gorgeous one-bedroom apartment in Stockholm that will stop you in your tracks.
This turn-of-the-century apartment is decorated in a light and dark color palette. The colors on the walls are taken from the wallpaper in the hallway, giving the home a nice, coherent atmosphere.
The apartment features many original elements from the year 1899, when the apartment was built. The stucco and woodwork are painted light gray, making them stand out against the painted walls. Modern additions, like light switches and window handles, are in a period style to blend in with the home’s historic character.
The living room is painted in a moody dark blue-gray shade, giving the space a cozy look. Big windows with deep window sills provide the room with plenty of light and also give the room a historical touch.
The living room is accessed via the hallway through a beautiful original door.
The decor contrast the dark color on the walls, light-colored furniture as well as the light wooden floor and light woodwork add a light touch to the room.
The artworks feature many earth tones which add a warm accent to the room.
The bedroom can be accessed via the living room and the hallway. The room is painted in a romantic pink shade.
Large glass doors leading to the balcony create a light atmosphere in the room.
The apartment has a spacious balcony overlooking the trees in the courtyard. Despite being in the city, it feels like you’re in the countryside with all that greenery.
The 83-square-meter apartment only has one bedroom, but it does have a generous social kitchen, dining, and living space.
The kitchen is modern, but the Shaker-style cabinets fit the historic home perfectly. The cabinets and the walls are painted in the same soft gray-beige shade with a hint of green.
The cabinets are paired with a Jura gray limestone worktop and white tiles.
The large space, with a ceiling height of 3.30 meters, has a social layout with a kitchen island with bar seating, a dining table, and a seating area so you can socialize while cooking.
The walls in the hall are covered in Honeysuckle from William Morris & Co., and on the floor lies the J Norrvange tile in the color Ivory from Bricmate, inspired by the Gotland limestone of the same name.
The apartment is listed for sale at Historiska Hem.
