A Light-Filled Swedish Duplex is a Lovely Family Home
Turn-of-the-century features meet renovated spaces and modern design in this lovely duplex apartment in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. The recently renovated apartment has a total floorplan of 113 square meters divided over two bright floors.
You do not often find such a spacious home in one of the city’s historic apartment complexes, but this duplex apartment works perfectly well as a spacious and stylish family home.
On the lower floor of the apartment, you can find a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. On the top floor, with slanted ceilings and many skylights to make the rooms light-filled, you can find two more bedrooms, a second living room, and another bathroom. All rooms are decorated in a stylish, modern Scandinavian style.

The first living room is a wonderfully light space with two large windows, a wooden floor, and walls painted in ‘Limestone’ from Jotun.
The best feature of the living room is the working historic fireplace in the corner. It’s a beautiful feature from the time when the apartment was built.
The floor has an open floorplan where the open hallway connects the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms.
The living room is a charming room with cream-colored cabinets topped with oak worktops and walls painted in the same light gray shade as the living room.
The master bedroom is located on the lower floor. The serene space has walls painted in ‘Airy Green’ from Jotun.
The second bedroom is a combined guest bedroom and home office. The walls here are also painted in the subtle green shade that you also see in the master bedroom. Just like in the rest of the home the room has pine floorboards.
The first bathroom has a fresh look with white tiles on the walls and colored terrazzo tiles on the floor.
Three niches above the toilet provide a lot of storage in the small bathroom.
The staircase in the living room brings you to the first floor.
Via the staircase in the living room, you enter the top floor. Here, you are welcomed by a wonderfully bright space thanks to the large skylights. In this room, you can also see the historical elements of the house with the exposed brick walls and wooden beams.
The walls are painted in ‘Kokos’ by Jotun.
There are two more bedrooms on the top floor. The slanted ceilings and skylights create cozy spaces that are perfect for children.
There is a beautiful second bathroom on the top floor. Luxurious light gray tiles are paired with a modern freestanding bath and a sink with ribbed wooden vanity drawers.
