Stylish Monochrome Interiors in an Early 20th Century House
An early 20th-century house on the edge of Primrose Hill has been carefully restored by interior architect Franses Design. Her attention to detail and beautiful design style have turned this home into a wonderful light and calm space.
The house is mostly hidden from the street behind a tall brick wall inset with gate piers and wooden gates. The 128 square meter / 1379 sq ft house is divided over three floors and features a private courtyard garden at the front of the house and a large terrace on the first floor.
The entire home is decorated in a monochrome color palette of whites, grays, and blacks. Very subtle color accents have been added through a light blue armchair or a green carpet on the staircase. The result is a wonderful stylish home that’s connected to the outdoors on two levels.
You enter the home on the garden side and you can see the hallway in the center. A glass door, designed to match the exterior metal-framed fenestration, opens to the open-plan living space.
The ground floor room is divided between a sitting area on one side and the kitchen and dining area on the other side. The sitting room has a remote-operated gas fire from Neville Stevens.
The walls in the living room are painted in “Wevet” by Farrow and Ball.
The entire ground floor has oak parquet flooring from Oak Artisans.
The seven-seater integrated dining table, specially created by Bulthaup for the space and to compliment the kitchen cabinetry, is a natural divider between the seating area and the kitchen.
The matt-white kitchen is designed by Bulthaup and all the appliances have been hidden to create a sleek and uncluttered space.
French window open up to the green courtyard garden with a bistro table and chairs.
The downstairs powder room has polished plaster walls and a raw-cut stone wash basin.
The entire first floor is home to the master suite. The bedroom has French windows that open to the exterior terrace and floor-to-ceiling bespoke wardrobes run along one wall.
Interior slim-profile French windows divide the bedroom with the en suite bathroom.
The bathroom has large gray porcelain tiles from European Heritage on the floor and in the shower. Next to the shower stands a natural stone bathtub in a contemporary bateau design by Clearwater.
The bathroom also has access to the outdoor terrace. The square-set marble basin is from Marble City, with shelving below, and the chrome-plated brassware is from CEA Design.
The second floor has two more bedrooms and a bathroom in the same style as the master bathroom.
