A Nature-Inspired Color Palette in a Stockholm Apartment
This two-bedroom apartment decorated in a nature-inspired color palette lies on the second floor of an Art Nouveau house in a Stockholm suburb. The turn-of-the-century apartment has a wonderful connection to nature thanks to the color palette used in the rooms and the leafy views of a park and a communal garden.
The apartment was completely renovated in 2022, and original elements from the beginning of the 20th century, like the wooden doors, deep window niches, and high ceilings, have been preserved.
The home has a wonderful layout with a long hallway that runs in the center of the plan. A kitchen with views of the villa gardens lies on one end, while the living room and the bedrooms (with views of the park) lie on the other side of the hall.

The living room lies in the center of the floorplan, flanked by both bedrooms. The room has large windows offering leafy green views of Margareta Park, it’s hard to imagine you live close to central Stockholm when you see those views.
The living room is a warm and social space with walls painted in Jotun’s ‘Blushing Peach’ and floorboards oiled with a dark, hard wax oil. Â
A charming sitting area, defined by a white rug, sits in one corner, including corner bookshelves painted in the same color as the walls. The popular IKEA DYVLINGE chair (part of the special collection that brings back old classics) adds a bold color pop.
In the other corner stands the dining table with green chairs, adding another natural hue to the room.
The Samsung Frame TV blends in nicely with the interior.
On the other side of the hall lies the kitchen with northern views of the surrounding villa gardens and the Enskede church.
The gray-blue cabinet doors (that look green in a certain light) are paired with an oak and stainless steel countertop. The kitchen features a wonderful blend of closed cabinets and shelves for an open look.
By the window, there is space for a small breakfast table. The walls in the kitchen are painted in Alcro’s pale yellow color “Mushroom”.
One side is fitted with floor-to-ceiling cabinets to maximize storage space in the small kitchen.
The open doorways in the kitchen and living room let natural light (from the north and south) flow through both spaces. It also helps to create a wonderful social layout.
The bedrooms are located on either side of the living room. The master bedroom, with wonderful views of the park, is painted in a natural olive green shade, mimicking the colors you can see from the windows.
Behind the curtain, the owners created a combined wardrobe and home office space featuring a combination of shelves, drawers, and hanging rods.
The second bedroom is now a charming children’s room with walls painted in a dark blue shade.
Built-in wardrobes, painted in the same color as the walls, provide plenty of storage space.
The bathroom was renovated a decade ago, but it still looks fresh. White tiles are paired with green in the shower area.
A combination of closed cabinets and shelves provide storage in the bathroom.
The long hallway is painted in the same pale yellow color as the kitchen. On one end, built-in wardrobes are fitted, which are hidden from view by a curtain.
Two niches fitted with shelves by the front door offer plenty of storage for shoes and coats.
