Period Details and Light Rooms in a Scandinavian Apartment
On the ground floor of a beautiful brick house in the national romantic style in Stockholm lies a wonderful family apartment with a unique floor plan, period details, and cozy rooms.
The layout is unconventional and exciting, and it is laid out to use all surfaces. The open-plan kitchen and living room form the social heart of the home. Two cozy bedrooms, each with a working tiled fireplace, are located on opposite sides of the home. As a bonus, there is also a cozy sleeping alcove.
The current owners have lived here for seventeen years since their children were small. According to them, it’s the perfect family home with access to the courtyard where children can play. The apartment is charming, with high ceilings, wooden floorboards, and period details, and I can see why the owners lived here so long.
The open-plan kitchen and living room are truly the heart of the home. The angled walls make this room unique and charming, and there are plenty of opportunities to decorate it.
Built-in bookshelves, open cabinets, and original built-in cupboards offer plenty of storage space.
The kitchen is made from white Kvik cabinets paired with a dark wooden worktop and shelves.
The master bedroom is a light and airy space with white walls, a wooden floor, and one of the original fireplaces in the corner.
Floating IKEA cabinets are topped with wooden board and create a perfect spot to display books, art, and other items.
The second bedroom is cozy with dark green walls and an ochre yellow headboard. It also has a fireplace, which makes it extra cozy. A vanity has been creates using a simple shelf and a round mirror.
In the hallway is an alcove that has been transformed into a bedroom with storage space under the bed and curtains that can hide it from visitors.
The bathroom was recently renovated and features three glo ball lamps from Flos, plastered Claystone ultra-matt walls, and gray marble floor tiles.

Storage can be found in all kinds of places, the space above the front door is perfect for shelves that can store books or storage boxes for small items you don’t need on a daily basis. It’s a great storage idea for when you have a small hallway.
