A Small Swedish Apartment with Dark Blue Walls

Would you paint you entire house in one color? And I’m not talking about white, gray, or beige but a bolder choice like dark blue. Every room in this small apartment in the Swedish city of Gothenburg is painted in a deep blue shade from Nordsjö.

What makes the choice for such a dark color even more bold is the apartment’s modest floor plan of only 39 square meters. You often hear that small spaces should be painted in light colors, but this tiny Swedish apartment shows that you should definitely consider a moody hue for a small space.

Despite the small floorplan of the apartment, it has a comfortable living room with space for a seating area and a dining table. Large south-west facing windows turn the room into a light space, despite the dark paint on the walls.

The kitchen is a small space but the large windows turn the room into a bright and pleasant space. The owners created extra workspace with the floating worktop.

The apartment used to be a one room home, but an extra room has been created to house a separate bedroom space. This kitchen used to be bigger and rhe remaining space was a built in closet. By moving the wall they created an extra room that is just big enough for a bed.
