A Stylish Regency Townhouse in London
Behind the facade of a classic Regency townhouse near Hyde Park in London lies a carefully restored home where original architectural features are combined with contemporary furnishings.
The five-bedroom house, laid out over five levels, has serene open-plan living spaces with minimal furnishings that really shine a light on the architectural features of this home.
During the renovations they used high quality (mainly British) materials. Classic materials as solid oak, marble, and brassware create a stylish home.
The galley kitchen is a design by Plain English Design. The cabinets are painted in a warm purple shade called “Relish” which is also by Plain English Design.
The warm kitchen cabinets are combined with Calacatta Monet marble worktops and butler sink. This is lovely in combination with the polished brass fittings.
The kitchen opens up to a generous dining room.
The stylish dining room is sparsely decorated but has a wonderful feature in the Carrara Gioia marble chimneypiece.
On the kitchen/dining floor is also a butler’s pantry with a washer/dryer.
The living room lies on the first floor of the townhouse. The walls in this room (and most other rooms of the house) are painted in various shades of “Portland Stone” by Little Greene.
The sitting room has wonderful wall mouldings and plasterwork. The owners didn’t decorate with much color in this home. Only the kitchen cabinets and this light blue sofa bring color accents to the interiors.
In both the front as the back sitting room you’ll find a stunning marble chimneypiece.
The tilework in the hallway is an antique-finish limestone cabochon tile in a diamond pattern with Belgian blue stone inserts.
The entire second floor houses the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Two simple wooden blocks serve as nightstands.
The master bedroom has bespoke cedar-lined wardrobes concealed behind jib doors.
The light gray master bathroom features a freestanding bath by Lusso stone. The vanity and shower (not pictures) are both made of Arabescato marble.
There are four more bedrooms, two on the top floor and two on the lower basement floor. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and they are all decorated in calming color tones and design.
These ensuite bathrooms have light pink Zellige tiles.
