A Small 1930s Apartment with an Exposed Brick Wall
In a late 1930s apartment building in Stockholm, the third-floor studio apartment has been turned into a cozy one-bedroom home with exposed brick walls and a new, charming kitchen.
The apartment building was designed as ‘a house in the park’, and this 36-square-meter apartment is located on the top floor of the building, offering charming views of the surrounding pine trees and the sky through the large original windows.

The open-plan living room and kitchen is a light and charming space with an industrial brick wall that nods to New York warehouse apartments.

The room pairs the original parquet floor with white walls and the exposed brick on one side. A huge window (typical for an apartment built in this period) lets in plenty of natural light while also offering views of the sky.

A glass door opens onto a charming south-western balcony bathed in sunshine all day long.

This room used to be the combined living room and bedroom, while the current bedroom used to be the kitchen.

The newly installed kitchen pairs classic cabinets in a beige hue with open shelving and limestone countertops. Classic white subway tiles are used as the backsplash, which runs all the way to the ceiling.

The stainless steel extractor fan and the luxurious gas stove from Italian Smeg, paired with the subway tiles and the black lighting, add to the room’s industrial vibe.

On the other side, a small dining area has been created paired with reclaimed wood shelves.

The former kitchen has been transformed into a cozy bedroom with gray, paneled walls, concrete flooring, and vibrant blue bedding.

A built-in wardrobe has been fitted in the corner, hidden from view by a curtain to save space. The niche next to the wardrobe is perfect for a small home office.

The hall features the Brittsommar wallpaper from Midbec, paired with stained polished concrete flooring and original built-in wardrobes.

The simple bathroom with its white and gray-blue tiles is spruced up with a floral shower curtain and bath mat. It’s a simple way to add more color to a (rental) bathroom.

The apartment is listed for sale at Historiska Hem.
