There is nothing better than seeing old buildings being brought back to life. And today I want to share one of these projects where an monumental building is transformed into a stylish apartment complex.
In Rotterdam, a city in The Netherlands, you can find “Tuin van Noord” (Garden of North). Tuin van Noord is a residential project around a former monumental prison complex. The prison complex is now transformed into a building with luxurious apartments.
Today’s home is a stylish monochrome penthouse apartment with high ceilings, a stylish black chevron floor and cozy bedrooms under the slanted ceiling.
In the living room you can see traces of the old prison building as the vaulted concrete ceiling is on full display. Huge windows flood the living room with light.
A cozy seating area is created under the lower ceiling with the wall and the ceiling covered in a light wallpaper. A curved sofa and round rug adds a softer look to the monochrome space.
The black steel spiral staircase leads to the upper floors with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
In every room of the house lies a black pvc floor laid out in a chevron pattern.
The opening leads to the hallway with built in closets and a powder room.
Next to the living room lies the open kitchen with dining area. The black and white color scheme continues here with black cabinets and white worktops.
The living room’s interior style continues in the kitchen where the dining area is also decorated with furniture in round shapes.
One floor up are two bedrooms (one is now a walk in closet) and a bathroom.
The master bedroom is small in size and it has a slanted roof, but despite this it is a wonderful room. It is decorated in a light color scheme and the two skylights have turned it into a very light room.
The walk in closet has custom made wardrobes and a seating area.
On the top floor is a third bedroom with a beautiful glass and steel wall with a sliding door to the bathroom.
