In the last week of the year, it is time to look back at the finest interiors and outdoor spaces published on The Nordroom in 2025. Today, I will share the best balconies and gardens of 2025.

This year, The Nordroom has posted a record number of home tours, design news, and home styling articles. In this Best of 2025 series, I will share the finest rooms, gardens, and architecture of the past year.

The garden of a renovated 1920s villa is a magnificent space, bordered by large trees, which creates a super private atmosphere. There is a large swimming pool and multiple patios.

The grounds of Peary Homestead in the Hudson Valley unfold like a series of garden rooms, each one with its own mood and rhythm. There is a trumpet-vine pergola that is perfect for outdoor dining, a greenhouse with a fenced cutting garden, a pool framed by lotus gardens, and trellised raspberry bushes.

The garden at a Portuguese villa is inspired by Moroccan riads; it is a walled sanctuary of greenery with banana and lemon trees, tiled terraces, and a serene pool edged by sun-warmed stone.

The courtyard terrace of an English home is paved with flagstones and mottled Suffolk pamment tiles. Beyond this, there is a garden with raised herbaceous borders, climbing flowers, and productive fruit trees.

Old flower beds line the path in the garden of a Swedish country home, filled with traditional plants such as boxwood, peonies, irises, daylilies, imperial crowns, mallows, and heritage roses. In spring, bulbs bloom in abundance, and pearl hyacinths carpet the ground in blue.

Lilacs form a near-arbor at the front, and the entrance is flanked by two century-old pear trees. Wildflowers, comfrey, and blue fireweed feed the bees, while daisies and other meadow flowers bloom until midsummer on the slope down to the private bathing jetty.

An olive-green metal staircase, wrapped in jasmine, leads you to the garden of an English maisonette home. The courtyard garden features David Austin roses, honeysuckle, and jasmine. There is a raised terrace with terracotta checkerboard tiles, which is perfect for a large lounge sofa.

The grounds of a 16th-century farmhouse in England feature a wildflower meadow, an orchard, a vegetable garden, a cut-flower patch, and colorful, manicured sections.

A black and white Primrose Hills mews house features a magnificent roof terrace built from slatted timber birch boards, with a built-in bench, a potting shed, a charming dining spot, and lots of plants.

The garden and the surrounding nature at a preserved Swedish farmhouse form a green unit around the farm buildings, and large jasmine and lilac bushes grow here. Next to the main building stands a nursing tree, an ash, which is approximately 200–250 years old.

The private walled garden of a Victorian townhouse was designed by award-winning garden designer Adolfo Harrison. The walls have been newly built from reclaimed London stock brick, and reclaimed Yorkstone has been used for the terrace.
