A Stylish Family Home in a Dutch Townhouse
We’re heading to Amsterdam to tour a beautiful renovated family house. The home is located on the first two floors of a historic townhouse that was built in 1908.
Inside, you can still see historic features such as high ceilings with beautiful ceiling ornamanets and a stunning marble fireplace in the sitting room.
These characteristic features are combined with contemporary furnishings, though we will also find vintage pieces in this wonderful family home. Let’s take a look.
The entire ground floor houses the open plan living room and kitchen. With windows at the front and in the back this is a lovely light space.
The sitting room is small but serene and comfortable with classic beige walls, a brown sofa, and a marble fireplace.
The kitchen is placed in the center of the room making it a social space. The modern white kitchen has marble worktops and brass fittings.
At the back of the house is a dining area with round vintage table and Cesca chairs.
On the ground floor is also a home office overlooking the garden. A simple floating desk provides workspace for two.
On the first floor are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a niche which is used for plenty of wardrobe space and the balcony overlooks the Amsterdam street.
One of two kids bedroomsis painted in green shades.
Simple IKEA Ivar cabinets are also painted green to fit the color scheme of the room.
The modern bathroom has recently been renovated and now provides a generous walk in shower and a freestanding bath.
At the back is a small garden with lounge area.
