More paint companies are releasing their Color of the Year 2025, and after a couple of blue shades, we are finally getting a bolder 2025 color. Behr is taking the Unexpected Red Theory to a new level with their pick for the Color of the Year 2025. Behr’s 2025 Color Rumors is a deep ruby red shade that adds warmth and rich allure to any space.
The Nordroom already predicted a deep red shade for the 2025 color trends and a recent research from Behr Paint reveals that about 75% of Americans say they would consider painting a room or wall a shade of red. Behr’s Rumors is a perfect red shade as it’s the perfect balance between warmth and liveliness.
“We’re seeing people embrace color like never before. Rumors is a modern take on the timeless red that creates an energetic appeal to make a lasting statement in a stunning way,” said Erika Woelfel, Vice President of Color and Creative Services at Behr Paint Company.
The study highlights that Americans recognize the unique ability of red to transform a home:
- Standout Exteriors: A significant 86% of respondents believe that homes with red front doors stand out from others, making a striking first impression.
- Attention-Grabbing Interiors: 84% agree that even a small pop of red in a room catches their attention, while 70% believe it adds an element of elegance and cohesion to a space.
- Energizing Design: The majority of Americans (60%) feel that the use of red in home design energizes them, suggesting that this vibrant color may be the perfect choice for those looking to infuse their living spaces with vitality.
- Hotel Luxury: Half of Americans associate the shade “Rumors” with luxury, evoking the vibe of a high-end hotel or luxurious hospitality space. Specifically, 54% of respondents said that incorporating Rumors in their homes gave them the feel of a high-end hotel, and an equal percentage noted that it reminded them of a luxurious hospitality setting.

How To Use Behr Color of the Year 2025 ‘Rumors’ in Your House
These interiors use a deep red shade like “Rumors” to help you see this hue come to life. The color can be used for a magnificent color-drenched room, or you can use Rumors in a glossy finish to accentuate furniture or a front door.
Interior designer Heidi Caillier used a rich pink, similar to ‘Rumors’ in one of the bedrooms in a Fox Island home. It shows how well such a deep pink shade works as a base color for any room; Heidi paired it with blue tones and neutrals.
