In the last week of the year, it is time to look back at the finest interiors and outdoor spaces published on The Nordroom in 2025. Today, I will share the best kitchens and utility rooms of 2025.
This year, The Nordroom has posted more than 650 home tours, as well as design news and home styling articles. In this Best of 2025 series, I will share the finest rooms, gardens, and architecture of the past year.
The kitchens of 2025 are magical! We’ve seen more colorful kitchen spaces, from burgundy red to sunny yellow and various shades of blue. And these beautiful kitchens come in various styles, from English cottage-style with wallpaper to contemporary designs.

I adore the cozy vibe of this kitchen in a romantic Swedish apartment. The kitchen cabinetry is from Snêk, a Swedish kitchen company that manufactures and builds traditional solid wood kitchens, paired with brass fittings and William Morris wallpaper.



The kitchen in a historic English cottage is defined by Delabole flagstones. The bespoke ochre-brown cabinets are topped with marble counters. The open cabinets are paired with a charming cottage-style striped curtain, which returns in the dining bench upholstery.

A charming utility space is fitted around the corner, separated by a pretty dark wood and glass room divider.



Right at the end of the year, I posted this beautiful preserved Swedish country house with a cozy kitchen featuring William Morris wallpaper, exposed wooden beams, the original stove, and deep red woodwork.

The kitchen in a small Stockholm apartment was designed by the owner, architect Hanna Söderman. The light-blue Shaker cabinets with brass handles pair beautifully with the apartment’s original elements.


The Victorian Lacemakers’ Grange is a home that radiates warmth and quiet charm, and the new deVOL kitchen is as inspiring as it is welcoming. The kitchen design uses deVOL’s Shaker cabinets, painted in deVOL’s own rich Refectory Red shade. The richly painted cabinets are topped with honed black granite.

The kitchen in a well-preserved 1930s apartment is charming and functional. The upper cabinets, probably installed in the 1960s, and the other cabinets, originally from the 1930s, are painted on the outside in two different shades of light blue.


Pearl Lowe has teamed up with deVOL Kitchens for a new kitchen and bathroom in her new Portobello home. Pearl opted for a classic color combination of pink and green paired with a pastel blue Lacanche cooker and mirror tiles.

The renovated kitchen by Lidhults in a 19th-century apartment is a magnificent room where period details, a classic kitchen design, and a soft color palette of pink and blue tones come together into one perfect room.

A London apartment with classic interiors and antiques features this stunning kitchen with classic cabinets painted in a soft gray-blue shade paired with a light stone countertop.


The historic country house apartment designed by Martin Brudnizki features this colorful kitchen with with “Dutch Orange” walls and “Invisible Green” cabinets. The bespoke cabinets are paired with finials from Orior Furniture and topped with an Arabescato marble countertop and backsplash.

Tucked away in a charming 17th-century mews house in Bermondsey, this small deVOL kitchen proves that great design isn’t reserved for grand homes. Measuring just 4 by 4.5 metres, this space is a joyful reminder that small can be both beautiful and brilliantly functional.

A restored Victorian house in London makes a statement with this kitchen featuring hand-painted cabinetry in deep Brinjal paired solid oak worktops and brass detailing by deVOL.


This light blue kitchen can be found in a stylish beige Stockholm apartment. The small kitchen features a combination of shelves, glass upper cabinets, and a built-in pantry, maximizing storage without feeling cramped.

At the back of an 18th-century English cottage lies this charming glazed kitchen space. The kitchen cabinets by George Fisher Woodwork are painted in Farrow and Ball’s ‘India Yellow’ and topped with a reclaimed Iroko countertop.

It looks like this kitchen has always been part of this turn-of-the-century family home, but it is actually a new addition from 2023. The old-fashioned kitchen with mirrored doors is made by Kulladal and pairs solid wood with stone countertops.


This Swedish apartment is decorated in neutral tones, but the kitchen is the exception. The room features pink kitchen cabinets from Kvick and a cozy window seat with plenty of cushions.


The owners of this deVOL kitchen in a Georgian home spent the last three years reinstating the original grandeur of this old house, and the result is magnificent.
One of the things the owners did during the kitchen renovation was to reinstate the intricate coving and employ a local decorative artist to hand-paint and distress the walls to recreate a perfectly imperfect, plaster-like finish.



The kitchen in a Victorian maisonette is a cozy space laid with hexagon terracotta tiles. The room features a large island that was once a gentleman’s outfitters cupboard, topped with an oak countertop.
The space above the Lacanche range has been decorated with reclaimed antique tiles by Maitland & Poate.



The new kitchen in the English country house, Raynham Hall, pairs 17th-century architecture with deep-red classic English deVOL cabinets and brass fittings.


During the renovation of a Stockholm apartment, the floor plan was redesigned to create a more open and social space where cooking, conversation, and socializing flow together. The site-built kitchen with light green doors and Portuguese limestone seamlessly flows into a cozy dining area with a built-in bench.

The second Pearl Lowe kitchen! In 2025, Pearl Lowe and her husband put their Somerset home on the market, and this kitchen has been a classic for years. It is a design by deVOL, using a combination of Classic and Shaker cupboards paired with a cream AGA stove.

The kitchen in a Victorian home is painted in a mauve-pink shade, beautifully paired with navy blue kitchen cabinets topped with a granite countertop and brass fittings.

The utility room in the same home is painted in a forest-green shade, with light-gray cabinets and a herringbone-tiled floor.


A central wooden island with a marble worktop draws the eye in this Victorian home in Chelsea. It is surrounded by classic shaker cabinetry and high-end touches, including a Lacanche range cooker and Officine Gullo sink. A small pantry is fitted under the stairs, decorated with pink zellige tiles.



Dark blue cabinets are paired with a Carrara marble countertop in this home, where Scandinavian designs meet The Hamptons. Beautiful, solid walnut doors provide access to a small pantry.

The kitchen in Corbin Bernsen’s and Amanda Pays’ farmhouse is the heart of the home, with locally made terracotta-colored cabinets and a connection to the media room and the dining room.



You don’t often see a shade of red like this in a kitchen, but the entire Regency home features vibrant colors. The cabinets are painted in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Terre D’Egypte’ paired with a marble countertop, white zellige tiles, and the original pine floorboards. The utility space features light pink cabinets with a wooden top.

On the top floor of a 1920s building lies a spectacular penthouse apartment with a beautiful kitchen. The hardwooden cabinet doors are handpainted in a deep green shade and paired with unfinished brass knobs and handles. The cabinets are topped with a composite stone countertop, and one side features handmade Italian backsplash tiles.

The kitchen in a Stockholm apartment was renovated a couple of years ago, pairing plywood cabinets and countertops with white tiles and exposed brick walls.


Lily Allen and David Harbour made the headlines this year. Still, personally, I am more interested in their fabulous Brooklyn townhouse, which includes this kitchen that looks like it was transported from an English country home to New York.

An open-plan kitchen and living space needs a stylish kitchen, and this beautiful wooden kitchen in a turn-of-the-century apartment with a window seat ticks all the boxes.

This kitchen in a light-filled attic apartment is new and features dark oak doors from Lucks By Robo and quartz composite worktops that continue into a kitchen island


These two kitchens can be found in historic English houses. The first kitchen, in a charming Arts and Crafts house, pairs sage-green cabinets with a checkerboard floor.
The second kitchen features exposed stone walls, terracotta tiles, and a cream double Aga set the tone, complemented by a second double oven with gas hob, handmade oak-topped units, and a butler sink.

This classic kitchen was one of the most popular rooms on Pinterest. The cabinets are painted in a soft blue shade and paired with linseed-oil-waxed wooden countertops, brass knobs, and white-painted pearl tongue-and-groove as the backsplash. It fits perfectly in the historic Stockholm apartment.


How do you make a tiny kitchen fabulous? Well, you pair simple white cabinets with a shiny brass backsplash and a soft pink hue on the walls. This kitchen in a Swedish apartment is small, but it certainly makes a statement.

The Shaker-style cabinets, tongue-and-groove backboards, and open shelving in this utility room are inspired by traditional utility rooms. The simple square quarry tiles from deVOL’s sister company, Floors of Stone, finish the traditional look.
